July 18 – SD Combo at “Music & More!”

The Cape Cod Museum of Art’s popular “Music & More!” Concert Series has been bringing joyful music to Cape Codders and visitors for 18 years. This summer, the Art Museum, located in Dennis, MA. is hosting eleven live, in-person concerts on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30 on the beautiful grounds of the Museum. From June 27th thru September 19th enjoy listening to musicians from a vast variety of disciplines, including Swing, Bluegrass, Dixieland, Jazz, Celtic music, Jazz standards and Classical music. During July the concerts will be held OUTSIDE on the campus. You may bring your lawn chair and, if you wish, come early and pack a picnic lunch!

The Sound Dunes Swing Combo will be entertaining at the Museum on Sunday, July 18th. The Combo will be performing music from The Great American Songbook, written by such greats as Gershwin, Porter, Ellington, Basie, and other contemporary composers. Our program, “A Musical Revue” will include a mix of Swing, Dixieland, Latin, Jazz, and Pop Rock music for your listening, singing, and dancing pleasure. Enjoy the show!

Tickets are $15 for Museum members / $18 for non-members and can be purchased online at: www.ccmoa.org. Once on the website, click on “EVENTS” and then again on “MUSIC and MORE!” — OR — simply go to https://www.ccmoa.org/events/sound-dunes-combo

NOTE:  The  Sound Dunes Swing Ensemble is an 18 piece “big band”, in the style of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and others. The mid-cape based band consists of 16 instrumentalists and male and female vocalists. This past year has been a very challenging time for live music and the Arts due to the COVID coronavirus. Restrictions imposed to control the spread of the virus, including social distancing, wearing of masks, and gathering size limits have made it impossible to rehearse and perform as a full sized big band. As a result the Sound Dunes Swing Ensemble have reimagined ourselves, for the time being, as a Combo ( 6 instrumentalists and 2 vocalists), The Sound Dunes Swing Combo.
