PHOTOS & VIDEO FROM THE DEC 8, 2019 S&B ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE AT THE DENNIS STROLL

The second 2019 holiday event for members of the Sound Dunes (SDSE) was an ensemble performance by a group of SDSE Sax and Brass instrumentalists at the December 8th Dennis Village Holiday Stroll. Nine SDSE members braved a semi-mild winter afternoon from about 1pm to 2pm to perform Holiday Carols on the bandstand on the Dennis Village Green during the stroll. Members of the ensemble included: Corey Russo and Peter DeBakker playing Sax; and Brass participants Paul Chatelain, Dale Cotter, Mike Hays, Jim Stamboni, Tom Jahnke, Dan Feheley, and Mike Rodericks.

One highlight of this public performance was when a local troop of Girl Scouts joined the ensemble (see little kids with red Santa hats in second photo attached) to sing several Holiday Carols. The audience and the girls (and especially the girls’ parents) enjoyed the experience and they were actually looking forward to doing it again next year, if possible!

As a special treat for our Facebook and Website followers, we have additionally attached a video of the Brass & Sax Ensemble playing “Joy to the World.” (Click on the following link for video)…..

Photos & Notes from the Dec 4, 2019 Holiday Dance Concert at Thirwood Place

During the winter holiday season The Sound Dunes Swing Ensemble (SDSE) become involved in a number of celebrations of the season, both as an entire group and as partial supporter of other individual area events.  Many of these holiday events are public, but some of them are private and restricted to the membership of a particular organization.

SDSE actually kicked off this 2019 holiday season with a private event.  On Wednesday, December 4th, we participated in the annual holiday dance/concert for the residents of the Thirwood Place Senior Residence in Yarmouth.  The program consisted of a variety of holiday favorites, a sing-along, several resident/audience participation skits, and a Tango demonstration by a group from the Cape Cod Ballroom Dancers organization.

Attendees appeared to greatly enjoy the many familiar holiday tunes and the Cape Cod Ballroom Dancers stimulated a good number of audience members to join in and dance, as can be seen in the first of the photos that follow.  The second photo depicts several audience members participating in a (Rudolf the Red Nosed) reindeer skit, which although coming off a bit “uneven,” still appeared to delight the crowd in attendence.
